may affect areas from Banks Peninsula southward late tonight.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: A mix of cloudy and fine periods
with showers at times. Southwest breezes.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Cloudy periods with showers about the south
coast and Stewart Island spreading further north tonight.
West to southwest winds, strong and gusty about the coast but
lighter and more variable inland.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Another cold day ahead with strong gusty
southwesterlies. Expect showers and fine periods.
THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: The southwest flow should gradually
ease as an anticyclone moves slowly over the northern Tasman Sea.
At the same time a weak cold front is likely to spread northeast
over the South Island. The North Island sees a few showers from
Taranaki northwards, otherwise fine. Over the South Island showers
clearing from eastern areas but persisting in the south and west.
