Now the All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The Situation: A cold southerly flow should weaken today as a high in the Tasman Sea drifts east onto the country. A
strengthening west to northwest airstream affects the lower South Island.
And now the forecast to midnight tonight:
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA, WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI and TARANAKI: Showers
clearing this morning and becoming mainly fine apart from a few cloudy periods. Southerly winds easing.
TAIHAPE, TAUPO, WANGANUI and MANAWATU: Mostly cloudy at first with showers and cold southerly winds. Snow likely to the
central mountains and the Desert Road this morning. From afternoon, fine breaks increasing and showers becoming confined
the main ranges.
WELLINGTON: Cloudy with showers becoming confined to the eastern hills this afternoon. Cold southerlies easing.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: Showers slowly clearing from the south with southerly winds easing.
NELSON: Mainly fine with southwest winds.
MARLBOROUGH and CANTERBURY: Remaining coastal showers clearing otherwise mainly fine. Becoming frosty in sheltered
places tonight. Southwest winds.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Mainly fine but cloud increasing about Fiordland with drizzle patches developing there
by evening. Southwest winds.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Fine and frosty inland with light winds but cloudy at times about the coast with west to southwest
winds.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Mostly cloudy with showers and southwest winds.
THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: Fine and frosty in the North Island and upper South Island. From Canterbury southward, high
cloud increasing and rain developing along the west coast. At the Chatham Islands, a few light showers and southwest
winds
