Now the All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The Situation: A high lies over the Chatham Islands. A front in the Tasman Sea should move onto the South Island later
today. A north to northwest flow runs ahead of the front.
And now the forecast to midnight tonight:
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND and COROMANDEL PENINSULA: A mix of cloud and fine breaks with a few showers becoming more widespread
towards evening. Northerly winds.
WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, TAIHAPE, BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA and TAUPO: Fine at first but cloud increasing in western
areas during the day and showers developing there towards evening. Remaining mostly dry in Bay of Plenty. Northerly
winds.
TARANAKI, WANGANUI and MANAWATU: Cloud increasing with a few showers developing from afternoon. North to northwest
winds.
WELLINGTON: Fine at first. Cloud increasing later with a few showers to the northern suburbs. Northerlies becoming
gusty.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: Mainly fine but high cloud increasing about Wairarapa late in the day. North to
northwest winds developing.
NELSON: High cloud thickening with rain developing about the western ranges and a few falls spreading further east
later. Northerly winds.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Rain becoming widespread today with heavy falls likely. Northeast winds.
MARLBOROUGH, CANTERBURY and OTAGO: high cloud increasing today with rain developing about the alps and a few falls
spreading further east in South Canterbury and Otago. North to northwest winds.
SOUTHLAND: Mostly cloudy with rain about the western ranges and falls spreading further east later. Northwest winds
turning westerly later.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Mainly fine with westerly winds.
THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: Further rain to the North Island as the front becomes slow moving. A few showers in the upper
South Island with mostly cloudy skies elsewhere. At the Chatham Islands, Cloud increasing with strengthening
northwesterlies.
