Now the All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The Situation: A complex trough of low pressure lies over central New Zealand today. A southwest flow affects the North Island while a southerly change spreads up the South Island.
And now the forecast to midnight tonight:
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI, TAIHAPE, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA, TAUPO, WANGANUI and MANAWATU Showery today with isolated thunderstorms possible. Southwest winds.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY, WAIRARAPA and MARLBOROUGH: A few showers spreading off the ranges from time to time. Showers and cold southerlies spread north during the afternoon.
WELLINGTON: Mostly cloudy with a few showers becoming heavier and more widespread from afternoon. Northerly winds turning to colder southerlies this afternoon.
NELSON: A few showers clearing later. Southwest winds.
CANTERBURY, OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Showers becoming widespread this morning with cold southerlies working northward. Snow to 800 metres inland. Slowly becoming fine inland tonight.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Showers clearing south of Hokitika today but a few remain near the southern Fiords. Southerly breezes.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Rain at times with northeast winds.
THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: Showers to most North island areas. Slowly becoming fine in the South Island. At the Chatham Islands, further rain and northeasterlies.
