Now the All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The Situation: A low to the west of the South Island should cross the country today. A west to northwest flow covers the North Island and mainly northeast winds affect the South Island.
And now the forecast to midnight tonight:
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI, TAIHAPE, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA, TAUPO, WANGANUI and MANAWATU A mix of cloud and fine breaks with a few showers likely in western areas. West to northwest winds.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY, WAIRARAPA: Showers clearing later this morning. Long fine breaks developing. Northwest winds.
WELLINGTON: Showery today. Northerly winds.
NELSON: Cloud and fine breaks with a few showers and northwest winds.
MARLBOROUGH, CANTERBURY and OTAGO: Cloud and fine breaks. Fog patches this morning about the coast. Northeast winds.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Showery with northeast winds.
SOUTHLAND: Mainly fine inland. A few drizzle patches developing about the coast and Stewart Island later. East to northeast winds.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Rain at times with northeast winds.
THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: Showers to most North island areas as a front crosses the island. Mainly fine in the east however. Showery in the South Island with a cool southerly change working northward. At the Chatham Islands, further rain and northeasterlies.
