All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The Situation: A ridge of high pressure over the centre of the
country. A trough from the Tasman Sea should gradually spread
onto the southwest of the South Island later today.
And now the forecast to midnight tonight:
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, BAY of PLENTY, ROTORUA,
WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI, TAIHAPE, TAUPO, WANGANUI
and MANAWATU: Fine and sunny in most places. A few areas of fog
at first this morning. Also brief showers are likely for a time
about western parts of Northland and Auckland at first. Light
breezes expected.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: Coastal showers persisting
for much of the day but inland fine breaks increasing. South to
southeast winds dying out by evening.
WELLINGTON: Light showers lingering about the eastern hills
until this afternoon. Elsewhere cloud breaking with a good deal
of sunshine. Southerly winds slowly dying out.
NELSON and MARLBOROUGH: Fine and frosty with light winds. High
cloud is likely to spread from the west later in the day.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Cloud increasing. Drizzle areas about
Fiordland may work into southern Westland this evening.
CANTERBURY and OTAGO: Fine and frosty for much of the day. High cloud
increasing from the west this afternoon. Brief patchy rain possible
about south Otago after dark. Light winds.
SOUTHLAND: Cloud increasing this morning. Patchy rain developing in
the west this afternoon spreading to parts of Foveaux Strait and
Stewart Island this evening.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Southeast winds easing with showers becoming few
and far between from afternoon. Skies remaining cloudy though.
THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: Rain in many northern and western places as
a low deepens west of centre of the country. Eastern areas and the
far south should stay mostly dry. Cloudy at the Chatham Islands.
