Now the All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The Situation: A low is moving east away from the Chatham Islands. A southeast flow covers the North Island and upper South Island. A shallow trough lies to the west of the South Island.
And now the forecast to midnight tonight:
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI and TARANAKI: A few light showers about Northland and Auckland this morning, otherwise mainly fine. Southerly winds.
BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA, TAIHAPE and TAUPO: Fine and frosty with Southeast winds.
WANGANUI and MANAWATU: Mainly fine apart from a few cloudy periods and the odd light shower this morning. Southeast winds.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: Further showers with southerly winds. Fine breaks increasing in Wairarapa this afternoon.
WELLINGTON: Cloudy with a few showers at first and southerly winds. Slowly becoming fine throughout the day.
NELSON, BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Fine and frosty with light winds. Cloud increasing about Fiordland however with patchy rain developing there.
MARLBOROUGH and CANTERBURY: Mainly fine inland today. About the coast cloud and remaining showers slowly clearing. Southeast breezes.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Mainly fine and frosty. A few cloudy periods about the coast however. Light winds.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Cloudy with showers and cold southerly winds.
THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: In the North Island showers continue about the east coast but mainly fine elsewhere. Becoming fine everywhere in the South Island. At the Chatham Islands, showers and southeasterlies.
