Weather Workshop: 5 day forecast for NZ

The long range forecast from Weather Workshop for all of New
Zealand to midnight Wednesday.
Situation: A ridge of high pressure is moving northward over
the country today as a cold front in the southwest Tasman Sea
approaches the far south. Tomorrow the front is expected to
cross much of the South Island then work further north during
Monday. It is followed by a very cold wintry outbreak. Showery
conditions are likely to persist is many places Tuesday and
Wednesday with a disturbed south to southwest flow continuing.
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA,
WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI, TAIHAPE ,TAUPO, WANGANUI
and MANAWATU: Mainly fine weather today and in most places
tomorrow. An increase in cloud is likely from Taranaki southward
during the day with a few late showers expected. On Monday turning
showery and colder everywhere with snow about the central mountains
at night which includes the Desert Road. Cold showery conditions
continuing Tuesday with snow to low levels about the ranges. A
improvement likely Wednesday but still cold and showery in many
places.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: The odd light coastal shower
today otherwise fine. Generally fine tomorrow. Turning colder
Monday with showers in most areas and snow to the main ranges at
night. From Tuesday onwards, continuing cold and showery with snow
to low levels about the ranges.
WELLINGTON: Clearing skies today. Tomorrow clouding in with showers
developing later. Colder Monday with showers and southerlies.
Tuesday and Wednesday sees wintry southerlies with snow to low
levels about the hills. Winds may reach gale in exposed places.
NELSON: Fine today and for much of tomorrow. Showers developing
at night. Further showers Monday. Expect snow showers to the ranges
Tuesday but elsewhere becoming fine. Mainly fine but cold Wednesday.
MARLBOROUGH and CANTERBURY: Fine in most places today. Low cloud
and fog returning to coastal Canterbury tonight. Tomorrow
southwesterlies and showers spreading north later in the day.
Colder Monday with brief showers and long fine spells with snow
to the ranges. Much colder from Tuesday with wintry showers and
snow to low levels. Showers gradually clearing Wednesday but
remaining cold.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Drizzle developing over Fiordland
today, elsewhere fine and sunny. A period of rain working north
tomorrow and turning colder. Showers clearing from the south
during Monday leaving fresh snow to the ranges. Mainly fine and
frosty Tuesday and Wednesday.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Cloudy about the south coast otherwise fine
today. Tomorrow turning colder with rain becoming widespread. Snow
to the ranges after dark. Monday sees snow lowering significantly
with sleet to sea level in the south along with bitterly cold
southerlies. Showers gradually clearing Tuesday but expect snow
flurries to persist on the hills for much of the day. Mainly fine
and very frosty Wednesday.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Showery conditions continuing for most of the
period. During Tuesday turning much colder with sleet and hail
to sea level. Further very cold wintry weather Wednesday with
southerlies easing only slowly.
