Weather Workshop Five Day Forecast

The long range forecast from Weather Workshop for all of New Zealand to midnight Monday.
Situation: A disturbed westerly flow covers the country today while a low in the central Tasman Sea advances onto New Zealand tonight. The low then covers much of the country tomorrow and moves away to the east on Saturday allowing a weak ridge to cover the country. On Sunday and Monday a pool of very cold air is expected to move north bringing wintry conditions to much of the South Island and lower North Island.
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI, TAIHAPE ,TAUPO, WANGANUI and MANAWATU: One or two showers with fine periods today. Showers and rain spreading to most areas tomorrow. Showers clearing during Saturday with southerly winds. Showers and southwesterly winds develop again on Sunday with further cold showery conditions on Monday with snow lowering about the central plateau.
BAY of PLENTY and ROTORUA: Mostly fine today. Cloudy periods increasing tomorrow with late showers developing. Becoming fine on Saturday but further showers on Sunday and Monday with cold south to southwesterly winds.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: Mostly fine today. Cloud increasing tomorrow with some late rain likely. Showers and southerly winds on Saturday clearing for a time on Sunday. Showers and cold southwesterlies on Monday with snow lowering about the ranges.
WELLINGTON: Mostly fine today. Showers and southeasterly winds developing tomorrow. Showers clearing on Saturday but returning again on Sunday with cold southerly winds. Showers and strong southerly winds Monday with snow lowering about the eastern ranges.
NELSON and MARLBOROUGH: Fine today but one or two showers developing tomorrow with southeasterly winds. Becoming fine Saturday but showers and southwesterly winds returning Sunday. Further showers on Monday with snow about the ranges.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Showers at times today but clearing and becoming mostly fine tomorrow. Mainly fine on Saturday. Showers and southwesterly winds for a time on Sunday with further showers likely Monday and snow lowering about the ranges.
CANTERBURY, OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Mainly fine today. A few coastalshowers and southeasterly winds developing tomorrow. Fine and frosty on Saturday but cloud increasing in Southland. Very cold southerly winds and showers spreading north on Sunday with snow lowering about the ranges. Wintry showers Monday with snow to low levels.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Rain clearing for a time today. A few showers tomorrow and Saturday with southerly winds. Widespread rain Monday with cold southeasterly winds developing.
