Short Forecast from Weather Workshop valid to midnight tomorrow:
For the North Island: Rain or showers in most places today as southerlies spread northward. Snow likely about the central mountains overnight which includes the top of the Desert Road. Tomorrow becoming fine apart from a few lingering showers about and north of Auckland and cloudy periods along the east coast.
Nelson: Becoming fine and frosty from later today.
The South Island west coast: Remaining showers clearing from Buller and northern Westland this afternoon, elsewhere fine.
Marlborough and Canterbury: Rain or showers slowly clearing from the south today. Becoming frosty inland overnight. Tomorrow fine.
Otago and Southland: Clearing weather inland today with showers retreating to the coast. Tomorrow showers persisting along the south coast otherwise fine and frosty.
Chatham Island: Rain easing to showers today with wintry southwesterlies. Further showers tomorrow.
