Short Forecast from Weather Workshop valid to midnight tonight
In the north and west of the North Island from Northland to Manawatu, also for the central plateau: A mix of cloud and fine breaks with a few light showers possible.
Bay of Plenty and from Gisborne to Wairarapa: Mainly fine but cloud increasing about Wairarapa after dark.
Wellington: Mainly fine at first. Cloud increasing later with a few drizzle patches developing after dark.
Nelson: Mainly fine at first. Cloud increasing later with showers developing about the western ranges.
The South Island west coast: Rain spreading north then clearing south of the glaciers from evening.
Marlborough and Canterbury: A mix of cloud and fine breaks at first. Rain working north, reaching Banks Peninsula after dark with snow lowering to 700 metres about the ranges.
Otago and Southland: Rain developing then breaking to showers. Snow to 600 metres about the ranges.
Chatham Island: Mostly cloudy. Brief showers this morning.
