Short Forecast from Weather Workshop valid to midnight tomorrow.
In the north and west of the North Island from Northland to Manawatu, also for the central plateau and Bay of Plenty: Outbreaks of rain easing to showers this evening. Remaining showery tomorrow.
In Wellington and Wairarapa: Cloudy with outbreaks of rain and cool southerlies for the remainder of today. Showery tomorrow but with increasing fine breaks.
Gisborne to Hawkes Bay: Rain north of Gisborne City tonight with heavy falls possible. A few showers about the ranges further south but mostly dry elsewhere. Tomorrow, showers and cool southerlies spread north reaching Gisborne by evening.
Nelson: Showers with increasing fine breaks tomorrow.
Marlborough and Canterbury: Widespread rain this evening. Rain turning to snow from 400 metres about south and mid Canterbury. Heavy falls expected above 800 metres. Tomorrow, clearing inland and becoming mostly fine but cloud and showers remain about the coast, chiefly north of Christchurch.
West of the South Island: Becoming mostly fine south of the glaciers but a few showers remain further north. Tomorrow, showers clearing and becoming fine everywhere.
Otago and Southland: Clearing inland tonight but remaining showery about the coast. Tomorrow, becoming fine apart from a few cloudy periods near the coast.
Chatham Islands: Cloudy. Rain developing tonight. Tomorrow, periods of rain and strong northerlies.
