Weather Workshop: 5 day forecast for NZ

The long range forecast from Weather Workshop for all of New Zealand to midnight Thursday.
Situation: A shallow trough is slowly crossing the upper North Island and should lie well to the east tomorrow. A ridge of high pressure covers most remaining areas today. During Monday a weak cold front Is expected to sweep the country affecting mostly eastern regions. This will allow an intense anticyclone to spread onto New Zealand from the central Tasman Sea from Tuesday onwards. In far south a westerly airflow is likely to increase from Wednesday.
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA,
WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI, TAIHAPE,TAUPO, WANGANUI
and MANAWATU: Showers from northern Waikato northwards clearing
from the west early tomorrow otherwise mainly fine weather expected,
however late showers may spread as far north as the central plateau
with brief snow possible about the Desert Road after dark.
Fine in most places from Tuesday onwards with overnight frosts from
Auckland south and a few foggy areas, also cloudy periods about
Northland.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: Remaining light showers
retreating northwards today. Tomorrow sees showers returning to
most places from the south for a time. Mainly fine after that with
overnight frosts.
WELLINGTON: Skies clearing today. Tomorrow brief showers likely.
Mainly fine from Tuesday onwards.
NELSON: Mainly fine frosty conditions for the period. A few brief
showers possible tomorrow about the ranges.
MARLBOROUGH and CANTERBURY: Fine today. Tomorrow a period of brief
coastal showers otherwise fine and frosty. Cloudy at times about
the coast from Tuesday onwards, elsewhere continuing dry. High
cloud increasing after Wednesday.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Fine today. Tomorrow some cloud
but remaining dry in most places. Brief showers likely about
southern Fiordland. Mainly fine everywhere Tuesday. On Wednesday
and Thursday patchy rain south of the glaciers, remaining dry
further north.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Cloud and light showers about the south
coast spreading elsewhere for a time early tomorrow then skies
slowly clearing. Mainly fine and frosty Tuesday. From Wednesday
onwards a few light showers to the western ranges and about
Foveaux Strait, elsewhere cloudy periods but dry.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Cold and showery with southwesterlies for much
of the time. On Thursday cloudy and dry with winds turning
westerly.
