Now the All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The Situation: A cold southwest change is spreading up the country. A high in the Tasman Sea pushes a ridge onto the South Island behind the front. A low lies just north of Northland and is moving east towards East Cape.
NORTHLAND: Cloudy with rain developing in the north this morning and spreading further south throughout the day. Northeast breezes. From evening, Rain breaking to showers with cool southwesterlies developing.
AUCKLAND and COROMANDEL PENINSULA: Cloud increasing with a few showers developing then becoming widespread late afternoon with a cool southwest change.
WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, BAY OF PLENTY, ROTORUA and TAUPO: Mainly fine and cool at first with a few fog patches about Waikato. From afternoon showers and a cool southwest change spread north, reaching Bay of Plenty by evening.
TARANAKI, WANGANUI, MANAWATU, TAIHAPE and WELLINGTON: Cloudy at times this morning with a few showers possible. From about midday, a cool southwest change spreads north with a period of widespread showers and some snow is possible to 800 metres in the main ranges.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: Mainly fine at first. A cool southerly change spreads north from about midday reaching Gisborne by evening.
NELSON: Showers and cool southwesterlies developing later this morning then becoming fine again by evening.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Showers and cold southerlies spread north this morning with some snow to 500 metres about Fiordland. From afternoon, slowly becoming fine from the south.
MARLBOROUGH and CANTERBURY: Showers and cold southerlies spread north this morning with some snow to 700 metres for a time about the ranges. Slowly becoming fine inland late afternoon but cloud and the odd shower remain about the coast.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Showers and cold southerlies this morning with some snow to 500 metres for a time. From afternoon becoming fine inland and very frosty tonight but about the coast, cloud and a few showers remain.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Cloud and fine breaks with a few showers becoming widespread from afternoon. Cold southwesterlies strengthening.
THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: Becoming fine and very frosty over most of the country but cloud and a few showers may linger about Gisborne and the Otago and Southland coasts. At the Chatham Islands, showers and cold southwesterlies continuing.
