Weather Workshop: Long Range Forecast

The long range forecast from Weather Workshop for all of New Zealand to midnight Sunday.
Situation: A weak cold front is expected to brush the east coast of the South Island today then move away to the east having little affect elsewhere. Ridge conditions persist in most other places. Tomorrow and Friday the high pressure ridge is expected to remain slow moving with easterlies predominating in the far north. Also later Friday a cold front is likely to move onto the far south of the South Island. During Saturday a cold southerly outbreak should slowly move northwards over South Island areas with pressures remaining low north of the country. The cold air is expected to affect North Island places during Sunday as a new ridge spreads onto the South Island.
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA and BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA, WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI, TAIHAPE and TAUPO: Cloudy areas at times from eastern Northland to Coromandel Peninsula today and thru until Friday elsewhere mostly fine. Expect overnight frosts south of Auckland and fog areas also. Cloud increasing Saturday with patchy rain likely. Sunday sees showers in most places with snow to the central plateau.
WANGANUI and MANAWATU: Fine and frosty up until Friday. Cloud increasing Saturday with late patchy rain. Showery and colder Sunday.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: Cloudy periods about Gisborne today and tomorrow, elsewhere fine and frosty. Fine everywhere Friday. Late showers spreading into Wairarapa Saturday otherwise dry. Cold and showery Sunday.
WELLINGTON: Thru' until Friday mainly fine weather with overnight frosts in sheltered places. Showers developing Saturday and turning colder. Further showery conditions expected Sunday.
NELSON: Continuing fine and frosty until the end of the week then brief showers developing Saturday. Skies clearing early Sunday and becoming frosty again.
MARLBOROUGH and CANTERBURY: Fine and clear but later today brief coastal showers spreading north. Fine and frosty tomorrow and much of Friday. Cold southwesterlies and showers expected Saturday with snow about the ranges at night. Showers becoming confined to coastal Marlborough Sunday with conditions clearing elsewhere and frosty weather returning.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Fine apart from cloudy periods today and tomorrow. On Friday cloud increasing from the south with rain spreading as far north as the glaciers. Rain easing to showers Saturday then a clearance working north. Sunday should be fine and clear in all but southern Fiordland where showers are expected to return.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Showers in most places for a time today then showers retreating to the coast and clearing inland. Tomorrow coastal cloud in the south, eslewhere fine and frosty. Cloud increasing later Friday with showers spreading north. Cold showery southerlies Saturday with snow possible to low levels at night. Showers retreating to the south coast Sunday with the flow turning westerly.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Continuing cold with showery periods at times with winds between west and southwest. From Saturday night onwards showers more frequent with sleet and strong southerlies.
