Now the All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The Situation: A deep trough covers the country. A front within
this trough should move over the South Island today and lie
near Cook Strait tonight.
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, WAIKATO, WAITOMO,
TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI, TAUPO, WANGANUI, MANAWATU and TAIHAPE:
Showery weather with a few thunderstorms possible. Gusty
northwesterly winds easing.
BAY OF PLENTY and ROTORUA: Cloudy periods with a few showers
and brisk northwesterly winds easing.
GISBORNE and HAWKES BAY: Rain about the western ranges
but remaining mostly dry further east. Gusty northwesterly
winds.
WAIRARAPA: Rain about the western ranges but remaining mostly
dry further east. Strong northwesterly winds easing. A change
tonight to cold southerly winds with widespread showers.
WELLINGTON: Showers, some thundery, in the north spreading
to the city at times. Strong northwesterly winds easing.
A change tonight to colder southerly winds with widespread
showers.
NELSON: Morning showers clearing and becoming mostly fine.
Brisk southwesterly winds developing.
MARLBOROUGH and CANTERBURY: Showers and cold southerly winds
spreading north during the day with some snow about Canterbury
ranges to 400 metres.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Showers slowly clearing
from the south during the day and becoming colder with brisk
southwesterly winds.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Wintery showers becoming widespread this
morning with snow lowering to 200 metres. Showers retreating
to the coast this evening and becoming fine and frosty inland.
Strong southwesterly winds about the coast easing.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Showery weather with strong to gale
northwesterly winds.
THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: Showers clearing in many areas but
a few persisting about the east coast of the North Island and
about the south of the South Island. At the Chatham Islands,
showers and cold southerly winds.
