World Journeys have launched two new itineraries in India and Nepal, focusing on the Buddhist religion and culture. The new 8-day Buddhist Highlights by Train itinerary journeys aboard the Maha Parinirvan Express train from Delhi to the significant Buddhist site of Bodhgaya, with its 80-foot tall Buddha statue, the buried Buddhist city of Sarnath, a sunset prayer ceremony in Varanasi, along with other significant temples and monasteries on route back to Delhi including the Taj Mahal. Departures of this journey are September through to March. Next up, the new 13-day Birthplace of Buddhism itinerary journeys from Delhi to the ancient Buddhist cities of Shravasti, Lumbini, Kushinagar and Bodhgaya, with highlights likely to be meeting hospitable Buddhist monks along the way, visiting the birthplace of Buddha, and experiencing sunrise yoga by the sacred Ganges river in Varanasi.
