Victoria University welcomes new Provost
A distinguished researcher and leader in higher education, Professor Kerri-Lee Krause, has been appointed Provost at Victoria University.
Professor Krause is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) at the University of Western Sydney (UWS).
Her previous leadership roles have included Pro Vice Chancellor (Education) at UWS and several positions at Griffith University, including Dean (Student Outcomes), Director Griffith Institute for Higher Education, Chair in Higher Education and Acting Pro Vice Chancellor (Learning and Student Outcomes).
Victoria University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Peter Dawkins, said: ``We are delighted that Kerri-Lee has accepted our offer to join Victoria University for the next stage of her already distinguished career.
``She has a strong international reputation as a leading researcher, scholar and practitioner in the field of higher education. She is extraordinarily well qualified to lead our transformational agenda in teaching and learning, oversee the continued enhancement of our research performance, and provide leadership and support for the Deans to drive our Colleges forward in a very competitive market environment. ‘’
Professor Krause said she was very pleased to be joining the senior leadership team at Victoria University.
``At a time of heightened competition and growth in the sector, VU plays a unique role in delivering high quality educational experiences and outcomes for a rich diversity of students both locally and internationally.
``I am passionate about supporting VU's commitment to provide flexible pathways to higher education for students who may not otherwise have considered university an option. The quality of VU's research collaborations with industry is impressive, as are the many practical, work-based learning opportunities these industry connections provide to enhance students' career readiness.
``I look forward to working closely with students, staff and the broader VU community to further enhance the University's reputation as an innovative, high quality University of Opportunity,’’ she said.
Professor Krause will take up her new role in January 2015.
