Energy Executive Responds to President Obama’s Speech on Climate Change
In President Obama’s speech today addressing the need to respond to the deleterious impacts of climate change on the U.S. economy and environment, he concluded that, “We can shape the sector that has the most impact on our economy.”
In response, Gerry McGowan, Managing Director, CBD Energy Limited, says:
“America just had its ‘Aha’ moment, recognizing that the energy sector is the most fundamentally important, capable of driving all segments of our economy and affecting every element of our society. With this recognition in place, I see that the floodgates for solar development and deployment are now in place and we anticipate rapid adoption in the U.S. as a result. Further, the leadership demonstrated by the administration this morning bodes well for the acceleration of solar-friendly policies here and in countries across the globe.”
James Greer, Senior Vice President of Westinghouse Solar, CBD’s solar installations subsidiary, says:
“President Obama highlighted today what the fossil fuel industry has been trying to hide: solar energy is clean and an inexpensive form of energy that all citizens and businesses, no matter what country, should be adopting.”
