The First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Vitaliy Yarema has held a press point to regional media. During the press conference, he informed the public about the activities conducted by law enforcement agencies to prevent separatist activities and to stabilize the social and political situation in Ukraine.
According to the First Vice Prime Minister, the Security Service of Ukraine, Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General's Office work in emergency mode in order to preserve the integrity of Ukraine and prevent events like those that occurred in the Crimea.
"According to the available information of operational services, to raise and support separatist moods in the country are used funds that Viktor Yanukovych and his supporters took out from Ukraine. The exact amount is not known, but we are talking about billions of dollars" Vitaliy Yarema said.
Vitaliy Yarema said that the investigation of criminal cases filed against separatists is in the active stage.
The official said that after the arrest of so-called leaders of the separatist movement, the activity of separatist moods and the number of meetings decreased throughout Ukraine. He also expressed the hope that those provocations that are planned for May 1 and May 9 will not be successful.
