Save the Children New Zealand Watches the Solomon Islands with Concern
Save the Children New Zealand is deeply concerned about the effects of flash flooding in the Solomon Islands, and is
monitoring the situation closely.
We are looking at sending experienced humanitarian response staff to the Solomon Islands over the weekend to support the
flooding response.
Save the Children’s office building in Honiara has been affected by the flooding, described as the country’s worst ever
disaster.
Development Program Director Dr Rudaba Khondker has described the situation as “dire.”
Save the Children has around 105 staff working in four provinces in the Solomon Islands.
If members of the public would like to give money to assist the people of the Solomons they can go
