Staying in the extremely difficult operational environment, the personnel of the State Customs Service of Ukraine in
Crimea continues to preserve military honour and remain devoted to the Oath of allegiance to Ukrainian people.
Within 24 hours the overall situation has been characterized with total attacks on subdivisions of the State Customs
Service of Ukraine. Meanwhile, the capturing activities commenced with growing intensity after a statement had been made
by the VR Speaker of Crimea Volodymyr Konstyantynov on intransigence of border officers and active resistance to the
decisions of the newly-appointed Crimean authorities.
Recurrent attacks were made by groups amounting under 100 specially uniformed military officers of Russia. There also
continued blocking of an administrative building of Azov-Black Sea regional departments and Simferopol detachment
headquarters. At around 22:30 a group of special operations soldiers made an attack on “the Kerch” border service
department which appears the primary subdivision of the state border protection in the Kerch direction. They broke out
windows, doors, destroyed communication facilities and workstations of the subdivision. An attack was made also on the
Kerch maritime security detachment and a recurrent attack on the Sevastopol maritime security detachment. Blocking of
the building in Sevastopol by the Russian military officers led to CCTV malfunction. Several military officers were
staying in the subdivisions at the time of capturing the two maritime detachments. The rest of the personnel left the
deployment by ships and motor boats and were redeployed.
In certain cases the special operations soldiers block holding negotiations which can cause the absence of mobile
connection.
Under such difficult conditions the state border officers are managing to blunt the attacks and prevent capturing the
weapon storages. Besides, they extend their duties in the Crimea border checkpoint surrounded by around 100 Russian
officers. Meanwhile, the customs officers don’t afford crossing the Ukraine’s border by persons who are forbidden to our
territory or those lacking necessary documents.
Moreover, active motions by Russian navy ships are prolonged in the Black Sea waters in and out the Sevastopol port. At
this, it concerns the Black Sea fleet and also the Baltic and North fleets of Russia which means violation of the
requirements of the Agreement between Ukraine and the Russian Federation on the placement of the Black Sea fleet on the
territory of Ukraine.
