Sanako Signs A Distribution Agreement With Oxford University Press
Sanako signs a distribution agreement with Oxford University Press to digitise and distribute English for Life book series
English for Life, powered by Sanako, provides complete solution for schools looking for integrated ELT content for their digital language lab
Sanako Corporation, the global leader in language teaching software, entered into an agreement with Oxford University Press to resell digitised content from the English for Life series to both existing Sanako customers and new customers of digital software labs.
English for Life, powered by Sanako, is an integrated content solution for teachers and students including digitised content which can be accessed and used directly in the digital classroom. By utilising the content in this manner, the teacher and student have access to, not only, the written content and the audio in one place, but also have the chance to put into practise their speaking skills by using the technology available in the language lab to record and listen back to themselves, and also options to save and submit to the teacher. By integrating all these components it encourages teaching and learning of both the input (read and listen) and output (write and speak) methods of language learning and urges students to engage in active use of the language which is proven to speed the process of learning a new language.
This collaboration brings to the market, ready-made content items which correspond directly with the printed material, but which are ready to be delivered to students in a language lab. It also allows the students and teachers utilising the digital language lab to be able to practice the four core skills all utilising the content and the technological capabilities of the lab.
“For many years language technologies (labs) and content have been used hand in hand, now with this agreement we are able to deliver the content which is designed for and fully integrated into the lab, allowing the teachers and students to get the most out of both the lab and the content and hopefully in doing so enabling them to truly interact and activate their learning with all four core skills of language learning,” says Tobias Elgh, CEO at Sanako.
The agreement currently covers the four books in the English for Life series, with the first title to be launched in Q1 2013 and the following books during the first half of 2013. The solution will be available for demonstration at the BETT show in London January 30th – February 2nd 2013, either at the Oxford University Press stand (C60) or at the Sanako stand (F08).
"Digital audio equipment is an essential tool in the hand of teachers in today's language learning classroom. Sanako is a leader in this space; and we're delighted to work with them to bring our successful English For Life course by Tom Hutchinson to language labs equipped with Sanako's digital solution. As a result of this collaboration we will enable teachers using the course to maximise speaking and listening practice in their classes, including very large classes, in a controlled way," says Paul Riley, Director of ELT Business Development at Oxford University Press.
“Entering this agreement is a great step forward for Sanako. Over the last six months we have been working hard to adapt our software in order to best integrate various types of content, we are pleased that by combining these two important elements of language teaching that we can deliver to teachers and students, not only a more complete solution, but also a more effective and engaging learning experience,” says Mark Barratt, SVP Solutions at Sanako.
