TGTE Salutes People of India for Rising Up for Delhi Gang-Rape Student
Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) today saluted the people of India for rising up for the Delhi gang-rape student.
“People of India’s strong action against this brutal act give hope to women around the world that at last there is a
country – India - where people are rising up against violence against women.” said Mrs. Balambihai Murugadas, Minister
for Women, Children and Elderly Affairs of the Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE).
“It is history in the making and we salute people of India for their leadership. While rape is happening around the
world, never before it took a center stage like what is happening in India.” continued Mrs. Murugadas.
“There are several media outlets that brought attention to gang-rape and sexual assaults around the world, like the
award winning UK’s Channel 4 documentary “Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields”.
“On behalf of my government, I send my deepest condolences to the young women’s family at this extremely painful and
distressful time,” continued Mrs. Murugadas.
About Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE)
Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) was created in the aftermath of the bloody end of Sri Lanka's war;
resulting tens of thousands of Tamil civilians were killed and large numbers of Tamil women were raped by the Sri Lankan
security forces. UN documented war crimes and recommended an International Commission of Inquiry.
Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) is a democratically elected government of the Tamil Diaspora of Sri
Lanka. Its actions are non-violent, democratic and diplomatic. It held internationally supervised elections in twelve
countries to elect Members of Parliament (MPs). These MPs drafted and ratified a Constitution and elected a Prime
Minister, a Cabinet and a Speaker.
