No delay in the release of prisoners – Kefah Qotosh finally freed
A number of Palestinian prisoners were yesterday released – long after they had served their sentence.
Since the announcement by the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to worsen the already dire conditions of
prisoners, prisoners who have served their sentences have had their release delayed – some for nearly a month –
demonstrating the lack of respect for the occupation's own legal laws and international law.
One of the released prisoners includes 38 year old female prisoner Kefah Qotosh, for whom UFree had been campaigning
for. She had been under an administrational imprisonment for more than a year.
Qotosh told UFree that the conditions of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails are worsening every day – particularly
emphasising the lack of health care.
She called on the international community to take urgent action to release all Palestinian prisoners and to pressure the
Israeli occupation to abide by international law.
Mohammed Hamdan, chair of UFree welcomed the release of Kefah. He condemned the lack of standards when it came to

UFree calls on the international community to pressure the Israeli occupation to end their practice of delaying the
release of Palestinian prisoners, who have served their sentence.
