Solomon Islands Deepens Tie With Belgium
Solomon Islands yesterday has welcomed with open arms Belgium’s Ambassador during a brief ceremony at the Government House.
Governor General Sir Nathaniel Waena has accepted Frank Carruet when he presented his letter of credence in Honiara yesterday.
Ambassador Carruet used the ceremony to announce his countries intention to strengthen business and trade ties with Solomon Islands, particularly in the area of tourism.
Sir Nathaniel is pleased with Belgium’s intentions saying Solomon Islands has huge potential in developing its tourism sector.
“We warmly welcome potential investors from Belgium to invest in our country,” he said.
The Governor General also highlighted Solomon Islands desire to develop its Small-Medium Enterprise (SME) sector.
He said the Solomon Islands Government believed that SME’s have the potential to create employment for youths who make up the majority of out population.
Ambassador Carruet is based in Canberra, Australia.
