U.S.-based NGO in Tehran (Taken Question)
Question: Has the US Government approved a US-based nongovernmental organization to open an office in Tehran?
Answer: We understand that a license has been granted to the American-Iranian Councilbut would refer you to the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) at the Treasury Department for any information regarding OFAC licenses. Our policy has not changed. We encourage efforts to increase people-to-people contacts between the people of Iran and the people of the United States in order to expand mutual understanding, as long as parties involved work in accordance with U.S. laws and regulations.
