Research Firm to Report Americans' Real-Time Reactions to Biden-Palin Face-off
Flemington, NJ, October 1, 2008 - HCD Research, Inc. announced today that it will conduct a study using text messaging
and web tools to obtain Americans' real-time responses to key issues during tomorrow night's vice presidential debate
between Senator Joe Biden and Senator Sarah Palin.
The study, which will be hosted on the firm's mediacurves.com web site, is being conducted by HCD Research and the
Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion (MCIPO), among self-reported Republicans, Democrats and independents.
HCD Research will give participants the opportunity to use their cell phones or the web as response tools to provide
their opinions on which candidate is winning the debate regarding key issues facing the country.
The text messaging option will be conducted through a new text message real-time polling system that allows participants
to respond to a series of questions while viewing the debate.
In addition, participants will have the option of responding using a web tool. A notification message regarding the
study will appear in the participant's inbox. If they choose to respond using this method, they will open a window,
which will allow them to respond to each question as it is sent out to participants.
Individual questions will be sent out on specific issues as they are addressed during the debate. Participation will be
prompted to respond throughout the entire broadcast of the debate. The company expects approximately 2,000 participants
during the debate.
The Media Curves web site provides the media and general public with a venue to view Americans' perceptions of popular
and controversial media events and advertisements.
