Remarks with Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Marat Tazhin Before Their Meeting
Secretary Condoleezza Rice
Waldorf-Astoria
New York City
September 29, 2008
SECRETARY RICE: Morning.
QUESTION: Madame Secretary, the elections in Belarus fell short of Western standards, according to the OSCE?
SECRETARY RICE: I don’t have a comment on Belarus at this point.
QUESTION: Do you have a comment on yesterday’s resolution on Iran that was passed (inaudible)?
SECRETARY RICE: I think it’s a very positive step, the resolution on Iran. We had only sought a resolution that would affirm the unity of the six, and to let the Iranians know that that unity is very strong and that we’ll be moving forward, and now, the political directors will take up the issue moving forward.
All right. Thank you.
