UN Secretary-General condemns deadly dual attacks in Istanbul, Turkey
28 July 2008 - Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has strongly condemned last night's twin bombings in Istanbul that have killed at least 16 civilians and injured many others.
"He deeply regrets the loss of life and conveys his sympathies to the families of the victims and the wounded," Mr. Ban's spokesperson said in a statement released today.
Media reports say two explosions occurred within minutes of each other last night in the Gungoren residential neighbourhood of Istanbul, Turkey's largest city.
