Vice President Lu Invites PM Sikua To Visit Taiwan
Taiwan's Vice President Annette Lu has invited Solomon Island Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua to visit Taiwan in March this year.
The Vice President announced the invitation during her state visit to Solomon Islands on Friday.
Ms Lu said she was grateful for the warm hospitality and support accorded to her delegation in Honiara and it is the intention of the government of Taiwan to reciprocate the friendly event.
Lu arrived in Honiara on Friday at the conclusion of her three-nation Pacific tour that includes stops in Marshall Islands and Nauru.
During a special meeting between the two leaders, Dr Sikua gave the Vice President a definite pledge that diplomatic ties between the two nations will continue into the future.
Dr Sikua said Solomon Islands will continue to endorse Taiwan's effort to join the United Nations and the World Health Organization.
Ms Lu reiterated her country's appreciation of Solomon Islands support for Taiwan's membership in international organizations describing the relationship as mutually beneficial.
Lu and her delegation left Honiara on Saturday on their way back to Taipei.
