Chamber's Support For Policies Enlightening, Says PM
Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua has described as enlightening the support extended to his Coalition for National Unity and
Rural Advancement Government's policies by the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
He says to get the support of the group that engineers the economic growth of Solomon Islands is not only enlightening
but is also welcoming news.
Prime Minister Sikua made the comments upon his return to Honiara after a week-long fence-mending relations visit to
Papua New Guinea, Australia and New Zealand.
The Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced its support for the Dr Sikua-Government's policies while
he was on the visit.
He says the Chamber's wholehearted support for CNURA's outlined principles of transparency, accountability,
responsibility and respect for the rule of law is good news for "my Government.
"I view as mature the Chamber's acceptance of the explanation that as we only have two and a half years to govern, our
priority areas for implementation are limited although very crucial".
The priority areas are reconciliation and rehabilitation, national security and foreign relations, infrastructure
development, the social services sector, economic/productive sector and civil affairs.
Prime Minister Sikua assures members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of his Government's support for their
continuing endeavours to ascertain the private sector growth, and he adds a vibrant and innovate private sector is vital
because there will be increased job opportunities for thousands of young people who leave schools every year.
