Ban Ki-moon sends condolences on death of Indonesia's Suharto
28 January 2008 - United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has conveyed condolences to the Government and people of Indonesia on
the death of former President Suharto.
Mr. Ban said President Suharto's 32-year leadership of Indonesia "was both an important period in the country's history
and a time during which Indonesia played a significant role in international affairs."
The Secretary-General, who is currently on an official visit to Europe that will take him also to Africa, made his
comments in a statement released by his spokesperson.
