More Students To Receive Government Assistance - PM

”This has been reflected in the Government‘s increased 2008 budgetary allocations for both Fijian Affairs and
Multi-Ethnic Affairs scholarship, which is proposed to assist more students in 2008.”
PM Bainimarama has urged the students to work hard and achieve their goals so that there is a win-win situation for all,
the government, parents and the students.
The Fijian Affairs Scholarship fund has increased from $8.3million in 2007 to $8.5million in 2008 with an estimated 1600
new students expected this year.
The Fijian Affairs Scholarship department is also finalising their interview list before deciding on the awardees.
Running parallel to this, the Multi-Ethnic Affairs has received $5.5 million in its budget for 2008, an increase of
1.25m from the 4.25million in 2007.
The Multi-Ethnic Affairs has completed its interviews for applicants and will soon publish the awardees.
A total of 2405 applications were received at the MEA with a total roll 2195 expected in 2008.
