New dates for Popkomm 2008
Berlin, 10 January 2008 - The dates of Popkomm have been changed in order to bring it closer to the Christmas season with its increased sales. This year the international meeting place for the music and entertainment industries takes centre stage in Berlin from 8 to 10 October. The new meeting rooms at the "Grosser Stern" complex on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds will come into use for the first time when they serve as the venue for the Popkomm Conference.
"We decided on these dates after consulting with industry representatives" explains Dr. Ralf Kleinhenz, General Manager of Popkomm. "Popkomm provides an increasingly powerful economic impetus for the industry, something that these new dates are intended to reinforce. Moreover the new conference rooms will be ready in time for this event, enabling Popkomm to further enhance its profile as a combined trade show and conference."
There was expansion in all the important aspects of last year's Popkomm. The 886 exhibitors from 57 countries represented an eight per cent increase over the previous year. There were also more trade visitors, 15,420 in all. The events taking place at the Popkomm Music Festival attracted even greater crowds. There was a total attendance of some 85,500 at the showcases and concerts, which is 14,500 more than in the previous year.
As an international platform for the music and entertainment industry Popkomm attracts thousands of trade visitors from all over the world. The integrated concept of this event makes it unique. Popkomm is the only industry meeting place in the world that combines a trade show with a conference and a festival. Consequently Popkomm is a major attraction not only for its core business of music but also because it brings the representatives of other sectors such as concerts, the movies, mobile entertainment, fashion and advertising to the exhibition halls in Berlin. In 2008 Popkomm will be staged in the German capital for the fifth time. It is organised by Popkomm GmbH, Berlin.
