President Vladimir Putin offered his condolences to the President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf on Thursday's terrorist
attack in Rawalpindi.
The President's message reads, in particular:
"Here in Russia we have been shaken and aggrieved by the news of the December 27 deadly terrorist attack, which killed
former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, a prominent politician and the leader of the Pakistan People's Party, and many
other people in the northern city of Rawalpindi.
We hope that the masterminds of this crime will be tracked down and punished. It is yet another bold challenge sent by
terrorists not only to Pakistan but to the whole international community. In this moment of grief I express solidarity
with the people of Pakistan on behalf of the nation. Please give our most sincere condolences to the families of those
killed, and our get-well wishes to those who have been injured in the attack."
