Solomon Islands: Minister Oti Takes Up DPM Post
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has announced the appointment of his new Deputy Prime Minister. He is the MP for Temotu/Nende and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Immigration and External Trade, Mr Patterson Oti.
Prime Minister Sogavare announced the appointment at a reception the government hosted for the business houses in Honiara yesterday afternoon.
The Deputy Prime Minister post was vacated last month when the former holder, the MP for Baegu /Asifola, Mr Toswell Kaua defected to the Opposition bench.
Mr Sogavare said Mr Oti's appointment to the second top political post showed the trust and confidence he had in the Temotu/Nende MP and his leadership skill.
