UN Agency And Saudi Government To Build Homes For Palestinians In Hebron
Saudi Arabia will donate $6.3 million to finance the construction of 100 housing units in the West Bank city of Hebron as part of a project being carried out by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT).
The new homes will be allocated to underprivileged or widowed women, the agency said in a press release.
The two-year project, which is part of UN-HABITAT’s Special Human Settlements Programme, will be carried out in cooperation with the Palestinian National Authority and local non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
UN-HABITAT and the Saudi Committee for the Relief of the Palestinian People are expected to sign an agreement shortly formalizing the arrangement.
