FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 22, 2006
Dr. David L. Dill, Founder of Verified Voting, to Appear on CNN's Lou Dobbs Tonight
Turn on your televisions tonight! CNN's Lou Dobbs Tonight will feature an interview with Verified Voting's Founder, Stanford computer science professor David Dill, concerning the failed pre-election Logic & Accuracy (L) test of voting machines in Pinellas County, Florida last week.
The show will air on CNN today at 6:00 p.m. Eastern and 3:00 p.m. Pacific.
Tonight's show is part of Lou Dobbs' and Kitty Pilgrim's continuing study of electronic voting systems as part of their "Democracy At Risk" series. Dill was interviewed about the importance of pre-election L tests of voting machines -- tests that are supposed to assure the public and election administrators that the voting systems are in good working order prior to the election.
CNN also interviewed Linda McGeehan, who is a past co-president of the Pinellas Chapter of the League of Women Voters, and who attended the L test at the request of and alongside members of Voting Integrity Alliance of Tampa Bay, founded by Pam Haengel.
During the Pinellas L tests, Haengel and other observers from the Voting Integrity Alliance of Tampa Bay made use of a Verified Voting questionnaire designed to assist citizens in observing this crucial part of the electoral process. The questionnaire is part of Verified Voting's ongoing Election Transparency Project, through which Verified Voting will be providing tools and guidance for observing several key parts of the electoral process.
