Solomons says investors line up
The Solomon Islands government says foreign investors are interested in setting up businesses in the country and the new foreign investment act will make it even more attractive.
The amended act is expected to speed up the application process for foreign investors and make the process more transparent.
A spokesperson for the government, Alfred Maesulia, says foreigners from different business sectors have already shown interest in investing into the country.
“There are some people outside the Solomon Islands who have shown interest in investing in the Solomon Islands. I think tourism is one area in the Solomon Islands where there is potential for investors, because we have a lot of attractions here in the Solomon Islands. Especially diving and eco tourism.”
Mr Maesulia says the recent riots in Honiara have not changed that.
