PNG’s Kabui on fact finding mission in Canada
The President of the Autonomous Bougainville Government, Joseph Kabui, is on his way to Canada to meet potential investors as well as executives of the Canadian company, Invincible Resources.
The meeting with Invincible will be a follow-up on a deal which was reached five weeks ago in which the company agreed to assist Bougainville with its capacity building to the tune of 6 million US dollars.
Invincible has already paid Bougainville six hundred and sixty thousand dollars and the remainder will be paid within sixty days.
The money will be repaid if the province resumes gold mining.
The Vice President of the ABG, Joseph Watawi says Mr Kabui’s trip is also a fact finding mission.
“With Canada, and particularly Vancouver, being an autonomous region, we also wanted to take this opportunity with the president’s delegation going there to make an assessment on how the autonomy arrangement is working in Vancouver.”
