As part of his ongoing efforts to reach out to all of Iraq’s communities, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s Special Representative in Baghdad today discussed recent developments in the country with the Mufti of the Gilani Mosque.
In his meeting with UN envoy Ashraf Jehangir Qazi, Sheikh Jamal Abdul Karim Al-Daban raised the issue of detainees, according to the UN Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI).
“Mr. Qazi and Sheikh Al-Daban also explored the means through which the United Nations can be more effective in facilitating educational and cultural projects in Baghdad,” UNAMI said.
