Remarks at the Presidential Award for Excellence Ceremony
Henrietta Fore, Under Secretary of State for Management
Washington, DC
December 13, 2005
Good evening. It is a great honor to accept these awards on behalf of Secretary Rice.
I want to thank Director Bolton and Director Springer as well as the experts and judges from both within and outside government who played a role in selecting us to win these awards.
My congratulations for winning these awards go to the women and men of the State Department's Bureau of Human Resources, a number of whom are here tonight. These dedicated public servants are working to ensure that we meet the needs of America by having the right people in the right places with the right skills at the right time.
Employee Profile Plus is innovative. It has helped us respond to crises by identifying people in critical language, development, and medical skills for the Indian Ocean tsunami and Hurricane Katrina.
It also means a great deal to us to be recognized for our overall achievements on the President's Management Agenda Human Capital Initiative. We know we cannot engage in results-based, challenging transformational work without having the right people.
We want to recruit, hire, retain, assign, promote, and train the best and the brightest. Thank you once again for these important awards.
Released on December 15, 2005
