Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice And Jan Eliasson, President of the United Nations General Assembly, Before Their
Meeting
Secretary Condoleezza Rice
Treaty Room
Washington, DC
November 9, 2005
(4:10 p.m. EST)
QUESTION: Madame Secretary, do you have any reaction to the Jordan bombings?
SECRETARY RICE: I've just been apprised of them, and we are watching the situation, but clearly this is a great
tragedy. Again, it shows that people will take innocent life without any remorse and it just shows the very difficult
war that we're fighting. Jordan has, of course, been a tremendous fighter and a tremendous ally in the war on terrorism.
So I'm not fully apprised of what has happened, but it looks like a very bad situation and of course our hearts go out
to those who have been lost and to the people of Jordan.
QUESTION: Mr. Eliasson, anything you'd like to say?
MR. ELIASSON: I share these views completely. We (inaudible) and it's all over the world now. It's something that
unites us. We have to do this together (inaudible).
QUESTION: Thank you very much.
