First compensation payments to victims of 7/7 bombings
The first two compensation cheques to victims of the London bombings have been sent out, the Criminal Injuries
Compensation Authority has announced.
The cheques were despatched on Monday after CICA received the first signed acceptances from the applicants.
So far the CICA has offered 22 awards with a total value of over £400,000 to victims with more to follow over the next
few days.
Howard Webber, Chief Executive of the CICA, said:
"We set up a dedicated team to deal with all applications. We are determined that they receive the compensation they are
entitled to as quickly as possible."
Altogether, 209 applications for compensation have been received from the victims of the London bombings. So far 92
police reports have been received about these applications, and more are arriving regularly.
