G8 Alternatives
PRESS RELEASE 7th July
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Police including those in full riot gear are surrounding the eco-camp-site at Stirling. About 1000 anti-G8 campaigners including young children are presently being held there against their wishes by the police.
G8 Alternatives demands that the police leave the Stirling camp-site area immediately and let people leave the site free from violence and intimidation.
Gill Hubbard of G8 Alternatives says: 'This is serious breach of people's civil liberties. None of the people in the camp-site have done anything illegal and should therefore be allowed to leave the camp-site if they wish. Scotland is not a police state and people should be free to leave.'
