President Putin To Meet IOC Evaluation Commission
Moscow - A glittering Kremlin reception has been promised for members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC)
Evaluation Commission when they fly into Moscow to evaluate the City’s bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games.
The Evaluation Commission will meet with President Vladimir Putin late afternoon on Wednesday 16 March. Following this
they will have a private tour of the Kremlin. The Commission will then watch a spectacular horseback parade in the
Kremlin Sobornaya Square before joining Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov and Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov for a
reception and dinner in the Kremlin’s Patriarch Palace.
“We are honoured by the Evaluation Commission’s visit next week and we look forward to explaining our plans for a
historic Olympic Games in 2012” said Mayor Luzhkov. “The Federal Government and Moscow Government have from the start
been united in their support for Moscow’s bid to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. We have put together a
technically excellent bid and I am sure that the Commission will be impressed by what they see next week.”
The Evaluation Commission will arrive in Moscow on Sunday evening. During their stay they will tour Moscow’s proposed
sites encompassed by its unique ‘Olympic River concept’ and view a series of presentations that will underscore the
city’s unparalleled experience in hosting big international sporting events. The Commission will depart from Moscow on
Friday 18 March.
