*"Solari" model blends ethical investors with community activists*
(Mill Valley, CA) Ethical investors can respond creatively to the falling dollar and rising oil prices by ''mapping investment opportunities by place, returning wealth creation to small businesses and neighborhoods everywhere,'' according to Catherine Austin Fitts, who will explain just how activists & investors can accomplish this at a Mill Valley lecture (Dec 15 7:30-9:30pm) followed by a workshop (Dec 16 5-9:30pm) at the Mill Valley Community Center.
Fitts is America’s first-ever female partner at a major Wall Street investment bank and was former Assistant Secretary of Housing/Federal Housing Commissioner in the first Bush administration.
*Introducing the Solari Model: Local "Stock Markets"*
This innovative investment toolkit, which Fitts calles the Solari Model, offers secific actions that we can each begin taking right now to position and expnd our own safety nets, and lets local citizens and businesspeople work together to create a "solari," a term she coined to refer to neighborhood venture funds controlled with voting shares issued and held locally—-yet which are open to investment globally.
A solari provides what might be understood as a "local stock market" that allows investors to reverse capital flight that drains resources from local communities.
*A Wealth Revolution: From Wall Street to Main Street*
By closely tracking local assets and money flows, citizens owning solari shares can work with local businesses to map investment opportunities in their own neighborhoods, and then go on to "securitize" them, i.e., create stock offerings by locality. Anyone can initiate the process, or join with others to start Solari Investor Circles—"incubator" investment clubs that benefit from local opportunities for investment.
Aside from a highly successful career on Wall Street, Fitts was also the founding president of an investment bank that successfully completed $12 billion of transactions and a $500 billion portfolio strategy that prototyped the Solari Model.
Once offered the chance for a seat on the Federal Reserve Board, which she declined, Catherine Austin Fitts now finds herself launching a revolutionary investment vehicle.
