Fitts is America’s first-ever female partner at a major Wall Street investment bank and was former Assistant Secretary
of Housing/Federal Housing Commissioner in the first Bush administration.

This innovative investment toolkit, which Fitts calles the Solari Model, offers secific actions that we can each begin
taking right now to position and expnd our own safety nets, and lets local citizens and businesspeople work together to
create a "solari," a term she coined to refer to neighborhood venture funds controlled with voting shares issued and
held locally—-yet which are open to investment globally.
A solari provides what might be understood as a "local stock market" that allows investors to reverse capital flight
that drains resources from local communities.
