Annan Condemns Terror Attacks In India
United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan today condemned the deadly terrorist attacks which wreaked havoc in India,
reiterating his longstanding opposition to the targeting of innocent civilians.
"The Secretary-General has learned with shock and dismay the news of bomb and gunfire attacks that took place today in
crowded public places in Nagaland and Assam states, India, which have claimed the lives of a large number of people," a
UN spokesman said in a statement.
"No cause or grievance can justify such senseless and cruel acts that target innocent civilians," the statement added.
Through his spokesman, the Secretary-General sent condolences to the victims and their families.
