New Kerry Ad: The Next President Must Do Both – Defend America and Fight for the Middle Class
For Immediate Release
Washington, DC - Calling attention to how George W. Bush’s wrong choices in Iraq have shortchanged priorities at home,
the Kerry-Edwards campaign Sunday unveiled the new 30-second television ad “Defend America.”
In the ad, John Kerry pledges to be a president who defends America and fights for the middle class, taking America in a
new direction after George Bush’s wrong choices in Iraq have cost us $200 billion and shortchanged America on everything
from education to health care.
“George W. Bush’s wrong choices have led America in the wrong direction in Iraq and left America without the resources
we need here at home,” said Kerry-Edwards campaign spokesperson Phil Singer. “John Kerry believes we can be strong in
the world while we also make progress here at home. George W. Bush believes we have to choose one or the other. That’s a
false choice.”

John Kerry: “200 billion dollars. That is what we are spending in Iraq because George Bush chose to go it alone. Now the
president tells us we don’t have the resources to take care of health care and education here at home. That’s wrong. As
president, I’ll stop at nothing to get the terrorists before they get us. But I’ll also fight to build a stronger middle
class. That’s the difference in this election. I believe the next president must do both – defend America and fight for
the middle class.”
